The Chimney Sweeper's Boy by Barbara Vine
finished reading this mystery novel about mistaken identities and i think its the best ive read for this vacation. not that Tower of Silence by Sarah Rayne, or Something Might Happen by Julie Myerson, or even The Woman Next Door by Barbara Delinsky werent any good; they were and i'd recommend any of them to those in need of a good and insightful read. but Sweeper's Boy somewhat sums it all.
[ i think the worst read was Listen to your Heart by Fern Michaels. didnt even finish reading it. ]
but to quote un-quote the other reviews:
its gripping . . almost impossible to put down. emotionally and intellectually satisfying. and in my own, captivating.
there is also an insight to the mind and heart of a homosexual. how it feels like to be one and the emotions involved. actually makes you feel for them instead of against. but whatever the case, you'll be touched someway. quite sad la actually.
i mean . . these people are also humans and just coz they're different doesnt give us any reason to treat them with disdain or to judge them in any way. dont think you're so well and good just coz you're . . straight. being straight doesnt give you reason to be high and mighty and think yourself so darn good. who knows ? you might be even more twisted than them.
but all im saying is that people should really stop being so damned judgmental about stuffs, and in this case, this issue, and just live and let live. at least they have found their place in this world, even if its in a way out of place. but they at least already know who they really are. unlike some of us who are still searching for answers, floating around aimlessly, intent on just bringing down these 'outcasts' when in truth, its yourself who have yet to find your own place in this world.
but hey.
im not saying that i condone this homosexuality thingy. its the bigger picture im talking about.
which is to not be so damned judgemental when you've only looked at the mere surface of things.
coz who knows ?
they might be the ones having a better story to tell than we do.
and just one of the nice quotes from the book.
There are no such thing as good lovers or bad lovers. There are only the lovers you want and the lovers you dont want.
