lets talk over popcorn.

the lake house! yay yay yay. haha.
ok not a very impressive review but what ther heck ! when i first heard ( i remember it was during the Oscar period when they came together ) that these two were going to act together again, these very two people who blew up the screens ( amidst the actual explosions ) with their sizzling chemistry back in the action flick Speed, twelve years ago, i told myself that i got to catch this ( as with everyone else who have been dying to see them act together again ).

so with checking out new movies to be put up onto the website as part of my job, saw the trailer, which looked real good, and with a huge picture of Keanu Reeves ( in A Scanner Darkly ) as my wallpaper, Boss got the hint that im a fan and gave me a pair of tickets (!) to the preview, this past Monday. went with Sis and it was really good ! though i admit that the main part of "really good" was simply because i get to see them on the same screen again. haha. but its worth it i tell you, coz these two simply rawks.

yes the ending was a "haah??" kinda ending - totally unacceptable by the rational mind, but hey, this is afterall a fantasy movie, so leave your logic and reason at the door, and just enjoy this journey of meeting your one true love, even if he's from two years ago.

just check out this one scene where they actually get to meet ( though its the past for her ), and its The Sweetest Scene okayy. so sweeet, that girls, i suggest you watching this movie with the girlfriends unless your guy is able to handle the sweetness. haha. though i think the movie stops short of being truly heartwarming, its ok, coz these two simply rawks :P

but i mean, if you wanna think about the underlying depth of the movie, to me, it touches on how, like ive said before, our paths all intersect. she actually met him before ( hence, the above Sweetest Scene ) but forgot about it coz, well, we forget. and its how we can just walk past someone, who might happen to be the one we're looking for, just because its not the time yet for us to meet. till a later time, when we realise that we might have met before.

ok over- dwelling and i dont feel like over- dwelling now, hee. so on a light and simple note, watch The Lake House ! even if you're not into sweet stuffs, just experience the level of respect, understanding and love the two leads have for each other, which would be sufficient to carry you through this mythic tale, and make you almost believe its true. and i believe its better than Mistress of Spices ;]

and if anyone noticed, yes, this poster is different from the official one you see in the papers / billboards but i kinda prefer this :) and somehow, this pose of one looking over the other's back, while the other looks elsewhere deep in thought is becoming more common, huh ?

anyways,
on to another totally at the other end of the spectrum movie, The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift. not my kinda movie but surprisingly, i kinda enjoyed it ! haha. free passes again and watched it with Dee ( since she's always liked fast cars ) last night at Orchard Cine.

the fast cars and all that racing's make a fun ride plus a fairly great soundtrack. and i guess we gotta give credit where due at the effort of trying to add some weight to the ride, with issues like alienation and the need to belong. and about knowing who you are so you'll die with no regrets. about making choices and not looking back. great weight there but its still more of an action flick, dont worry.

and there's this character Han, who is just so cool and so cool that he's just so cool. haha. but spoiler alert : its sad the way things ended for him ! geex. they just had to put that extra weight. nevertheless, a ride best enjoyed in the movies :)

interested in Lady in The Water too. gave the tickets to Kadaj and Yazoo, coz it was on the same day as The Lake House's and no way am i missing out on that ! another recommend is Hard Candy. remember the girl who could walk through walls in X3 ? i was surprised too. she was barely memorable there and here she is with a fine lead.

movies. its all about the experience :)
have fun !
